We’ve been riding the MLB rollercoaster so far this week, with an up 15-6 day on Tuesday sandwiched between two slightly below-average days on Monday and Tuesday. That’s part of the battle we face early in the season as we get a better sense of the true talent level on these teams and that’s why we encourage you to only bet what you’re comfortable with.

Also, remember, you don’t HAVE to bet on each game. We are giving you our best bets for every game, but if our analysis isn’t landing with you or you just don’t feel like a bet stands out, it’s okay to give that game a pass. There will always be more games to bet on.

Below I’ll take you through today’s entire schedule, the betting odds for each game along with the starting pitchers, and some stats and picks that we think should help you not only prepare to enjoy the game but also think about which way you want to want to bet the game if that’s something you want to do.

Also, we recommend checking the Fangraphs Probables Grid to see the likely starting pitchers from each game with clickable links to get the most in-depth information on each pitcher.

  • TOR Starting Pitcher: Kevin Gausman (14 Wins, 2.81 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 10.64 K/9 in 2021)
  • NYY Starting Pitcher: Luis Severino (* Hasn’t pitched more than 12 innings since 2018)
  • Bullpen ERAs: TOR 3.60; NYY 1.47
  • The Pick: Pass on this game
  • WHY?: As I mentioned above, you don’t always have to feel like you need to bet on every game. Obviously, it’s nice when you’re watching a game to have some action on it, but you don’t want to force it, and my recommendation is just to fade this game. There are simply too many question marks to me. Teoscar Hernandez is hurt. How will that impact the Blue Jays’ offense? Kevin Gausman had a great year, but is back in the AL East and had a rough first start. What version of him are we going to get? Luis Severino still possesses tremendous upside, but how many innings will he be allowed to throw? The Yankees bullpen had to throw over five innings last night, so how much gas do they have left in the tank? I think this will be an enjoyable game, so I’m going to watch without having to worry about where to put my money.

Los Angeles Angels (3-3) @ Texas Rangers (1-4), 8:05 p.m. ET

    • Bullpen ERAs: LAA 6.31; TEX 4.13

Atlanta Braves (3-4) @ San Diego Padres (4-3), 8:10 p.m. ET

    • ATL Starting Pitcher: Charlie Morton (14 Wins, 3.34 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 10.47 K/9 in 2021)
    • SD Starting Pitcher: Joe Musgrove (11 Wins, 3.87 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 9.97 K/9 in 2021)
    • Bullpen ERAs: ATL 4.30; SD 4.45
    • The Pick:

Detroit Tigers (2-4) @ Kansas City Royals (2-3), 8:10 p.m. ET

  • DET Starting Pitcher: Casey Mize (7 Wins, 3.71 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, 7.06 K/9 in 2021)
  • KC Starting Pitcher: Zack Greinke (11 Wins, 4.16 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, 6.32 K/9 in 2021)
  • Bullpen ERAs: DET 3.81; KC 6.94
  • The Pick: Recommend passing
  • WHY?: I’m going to also pass on this game. I think Zack Greinke is better than people are giving him credit for, but Greinke and Mize are both total enigmas as pitchers. They have the ability to hold an offense in check but can also get blown up. The Royals bullpen should also be elite, but they are getting crushed. Why? Robbie Grossman is out for Detroit, which hurts their offense a bit and Javier Baez missed the last game with a sprained thumb, so we’re not sure how healthy he is. All of that makes me lean KC on the Moneyline if you had to play it, but I just don’t trust Greinke that much and something is up with this bullpen.

Chicago Cubs (3-2) @ Colorado Rockies (4-1), 8:40 p.m. ET

    • CHC Starting Pitcher: Justin Steele (4 Wins, 4.26 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 9.32 K/9 in 2021)
    • COL Starting Pitcher: Kyle Freeland (7 Wins, 4.33 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 7.83 K/9 in 2021)
    • Bullpen ERAs: CHC 3.60; COL 0.78
    • The Pick:

Cincinnati Reds (2-4) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (3-2), 10:10 p.m. ET

    • LAD Starting Pitcher: Walker Buehler (16 Wins, 2.47 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 9.19 K/9 in 2021)
