WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
The NASCAR Cup will end its three-race “West Coast Swing” when the Ruoff Mortage 500 kicks off at the Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona this Sunday, March 13th at 3:30 PM.
The race will be a 312-lap race on the Phoenix Raceway’s one-mile, low-banked track, which is one of the shortest track races since the start of the season. The Phoenix Raceway was built around the Estrella Mountains, and, as a result, race fans have grown fond of the hillsides next to the track, particularly “Rattle Snake Hill,” which gives fans unique ways to enjoy the race.
Only 36 drivers will be on the track for the race, with the same single-car qualifying rule in place as previous, with two rounds and two groups.
Martin Tuex Jr. is the defending race winner and currently sits second in the NASCAR Cup Standings behind leader Kyle Larson. Rounding out the current top-five in the standings is Joey Logano in 3rd, Austin Cindric in 4th, and Kyle Busch in 5th.
