Superstar Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has officially agreed to move to Manchester City on July 1 — making him eligible to play for the Premier League giant for the 2022-23 season, the team confirmed on Tuesday.
The parameters of the contract are unknown at this time, but ESPN has reported that it “will not top” star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne who earns roughly $462,000 per week.
The 21-year-old has risen to international prominence for German side Borussia Dortmund, scoring 28 goals in 29 matches across all competitions this season while battling injury issues.
This after he posted 41 goals in all competitions last year, including 10 in the Champions League in which his side advanced to the quarterfinals — losing to Manchester City 4-2 on aggregates.
He finished 11th in the Ballon d’Or voting.
For Manchester City, the rich just keep getting richer as they bring on one of the most imposing, young talents on the planet to join their side rather than signing with the likes of Real Madrid or Bayern Munich — two teams rumored to be on Haaland’s radar.
While they collapsed in the semifinals of the Champions League against the very same Real Madrid last week, City extended its lead atop the Premier League to three points after defeating Newcastle 5-0 on Sunday while Liverpool drew Tottenham.
